Biography:

Henry was originally a freelance design purchased by Sir Topham Hatt however his design was flawed with a small firebox leading Henry to steam poorly. Later the fat controller purchased welsh coal which burns easier but was expensive and only a temporary solution.

Henry gets rebuilt eventually to a conventional successful design becoming the NWR's premier goods engine. Henry is a member of Tender Engines United which was a group lead by Gordon to stop the Fat Controller from eating the Easter bunny's chocolate eggs and also set up a large carrot for the bunny to return. He became one of the first victims of the Slender Engine.

When Thomas played a joke on Henry for April Fools it lead to Thomas getting blown-up and Henry himself getting derailed due to Henry miss-hearing what Percy's warning was about and speeding up instead of stopping. It was also revealed Thomas had rigged the wrong van with the explosion. It was Henry's dream in which Thomas becomes supersized and destroys Knapford Station.

Henry was pulling a special for the first time only to crash at Vicarstown due to Edward reversing in his way due to Thomas telling Percy to move into Edward's view so Thomas could get the special. Henry also likes the forest and stops there from time to time but this time Diesel crashes into him. Diesel scolds Henry for stopping on the mainline and breaking Rule No.55. Only for Diesel to realize that Henry is on a siding and that the Rev. Wilbert. Awdry had switched him onto Henry's siding.

Persona:

Henry was depicted as lazy and sick in earlier shorts as well as more clumsy. Though in later shorts he seems more optimistic and also stands his ground plus being more helpful.
